Volunteer service is an important way for contemporary Chinese college students to carry out social practice, and an effective carrier for strengthening ideological and political work in the new era. During the prevention and control of the COVID-19, college students, as a solid force in the volunteer team, actively participated in the anti-epidemic volunteer service, which not only improved their practical ability, but also practiced the core socialist values and inherited the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Based on the existing practical experience in volunteer service, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has made use of multiple channels and resources to improve the volunteer training system, strengthen the guarantee of volunteer service, realize the high-quality leapfrog development of college students' volunteer service, and provide experience and reference for the innovation of college students' volunteer service in the new era. © 2023, Editorial department of Chinese Medical Ethics. The current status and history of AFLAS.

The Asian federation of laboratory animal science associations (AFLAS) was established on November 29, 2003, and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2023. During this time, the number of AFLAS member associations and societies increased from six founders to eleven, and eight AFLAS congresses and 19 council meetings were held. In addition, the education and training system of laboratory animal science and technology funding program to support the activities of AFLAS member associations or societies started in 2015. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic had a great impact on the activities of AFLAS, and the 10th Congress which was scheduled to be held in Thailand in 2021 had to be canceled. AFLAS must have its members work together to overcome this difficult situation and further develop.

Multi-user upper limb rehabilitation training system integrating social interaction.

COVID-19 causes persistent symptoms such as weakness and myasthenia in most patients. Due to the cross-infection of COVID-19, the traditional face-to-face rehabilitation services are risky for the elderly. To ensure that the elderly in urgent need of rehabilitation services receive training while minimizing the disturbance of the COVID-19 pandemic on their social activities. We have improved the existing virtual upper limb training system, and added a social factor to the system. Seniors with upper limb rehabilitation needs can use the system to compete or collaborate with others for training. In addition, a set of natural and scientific exclusive gestures have been designed under the direction of following the doctor's advice. The experiment is conducted jointly with the chief physicians of the geriatrics department in the authoritative class-A hospitals of Class III. Our experiment, which lasted for two months, showed that the virtual training system with social factors added had the best rehabilitation effect and enhanced the initiative of patients. The system has value for popularization during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Implement of the Training System for White Cane Technique using Haptic Illusion

Visually impaired people widely use white canes to walk alone. To learn a proper operation of a white cane, training by orientation & mobility (O & M) specialists is required. However, due to the influence of recent pandemic with COVID-19 in addition to the shortage of O & M specialists, visually impaired cannot be enough trained by social distancing. Therefore, we propose a force feedback training system that visually impaired learn white cane technique using haptic illusion. Specifically, in the touch technique which is one of the basics of white cane technique, a system that tar-get swing of the white cane was presented by illusory pulling cues was developed. Virtual classrooms in a vocational training system: a differentiated educational expertise?

During the Covid19 pandemic of the year 2020, vocational training providers has to adjust their training system to distance. Most of them use virtual classroom to do so. In a competitive market, a vocational training system involving media provider want to study the practices of animation of virtual classrooms. The design of trainings is standardized but not the animation of virtual classrooms which is trainers task. Investigation by observation of 50 virtuals classrooms reveals that trainers use virtual classroom for theoretical knowledge. This educational synchronous time is not a moment where learners exchange. Virtual classroom in this training system do not compensate for the lack of presence. Following those results, the vocational training provider takes measures to enhance it pedagogical engineering.

Reproduce the movement of the injection needle with a haptic device

During the COVID-19 pandemic, personnel shortages for vaccinations and differences between new methods and conventional methods were encountered. Therefore, this study investigates the characteristics of a force-feedback device as the key component of a medical training system that reproduces the actions of a clinical injection. © 2022 IEEE.
